Hints & Tips
Many of you will have gazed in awe at country gardens with perfectly striped lawns stretching out to flower beds blazing with colour.
So how is it your own lawn does not have those perfectly parallel, precision engineered stripes?
Rear roller mowers have other advantages, as they can often cut the lawn more closely and can cut right to the edge of lawns so you don’t need to go back again with a strimmer.
And at the same time they will even out lumps and bumps.
If you want to achieve these results, here are ten top rear-roller mowers to make you the envy of your neighbours; and the first is from a British manufacturer.
The Hayter Spirit 41 Petrol Push Rear Roller Lawnmower (Code: 617) is made with smaller lawns, or those with narrow paths, in mind
The cutting width is 41 cm and it has a 125 cc Briggs & Stratton engine which has been designed for a long life. It also starts easily.
It has a full width rear roller and is fitted with front fins to smooth the lawn before trimming. It can cut right down to 13 mm and has a front cutter-bar friction disc to prevent the crank from being damaged if you hit something solid.
It costs £285 £74 less than the recommended price and is delivered free the next working day, like most of our products. There is a three year warranty and a free bottle of engine oil.
The Lawnflite LF43PBR Push Rear-Roller Lawnmower is a similar mower with a cutting width of 43 cm, slightly wider than the previous one, and has a Briggs & Stratton 140 cc engine, again an easy starter.
This one has six cutting heights from 15 mm to 65 mm, a 55 litre grass box and a split rear roller to avoid scalping an uneven lawn.
With this one you receive a free mulch plug so you can deal with the clippings by cutting them very finely and returning them to the lawn.
It costs £299, £100 less than the recommended price and has a two-year warranty.
The Hayter Spirit 41 Petrol Autodrive Rear Roller Lawnmower (Code: 619) is similar to the first one but has the great advantage that it is self propelled.
