Hints & Tips
Autumn has blown in with a vengeance and with the darker evenings and chillier days it seems that summer is finally over.
Last winter was comparatively mild with little snow but chances are we won’t be so lucky this time around and now’s the time to make sure you carry on regardless if a bucket full of the white stuff arrives.
Machines to clear drives and paths and the forecourts of businesses are now readily available and are increasingly popular particularly with people living in rural areas and here are three which offer great value for money.
The Oleo-Mac Artik 52 Single-Stage Petrol Snow Blower has a 163 cc engine especially designed for cold weather and is a single stage machine with blades designed to cut through compacted snow and ice.
It is very manoeuvrable and easy to guide through gates and along narrower paths and has an exit chute which is adjustable vertically and horizontally and can throw the snow and ice up to eight metres away.
It costs £299, £100 less than the recommended retail price and has a three year warranty. We deliver it free the next working day.
The Oleo-Mac Artik 56 Dual-Stage Snow Blower (Manual Start) has a two-stage way of clearing drives and paths.
With this one the snow and iced is first dragged into the body of the machine by powerful augurs and then an impellor takes over to blast it away up to 12 metres away through an adjustable chute.
This one has a 182 cc Loncin engine, again designed for freezing conditions and is fitted with Snow Hog tyres to give excellent traction.
And this model is self-propelled with five forward and two reverse gears. The inlet height of the front hood is 51 cm so it can cope with substantial falls of snow.
The hood has adjustable sliders which let you adjust the working height according to the conditions.
It costs £479, a substantial reduction on the recommended selling price of £699 and has a three year warranty from the manufacturer. Delivery is free the next working day.
The Oleo-Mac Artik 56 EL Dual-Stage Snow Blower (Electric Start) is a similar machine except that it is started with a key rather than by pulling a recoil starter cord, making it easier to get going when the snow starts to tumble.
It costs £549, has a three year warranty and free next working day delivery.
We have a number of snow blowers on our site from different manufacturers and you can see the whole range by going to these pages.
