Hints & Tips
Many people are looking to cut their lawn, and need a new mower, but are working to a tight budget.
So here are four machines which may well suit the bill which we have had built to keep the price down and yet provide reliable and long service.
The first is the, MD 40P Petrol Push Lawn Mower, a simple little machine if you have a small lawn to keep in order.
The engine is from leading Italian manufacturer GGP, 150 cc, and designed to start easily.
It is light and easy to push and has cutting heights from 24 mm to 75 mm. The grass box can hold 40 litres.
With a 39 cm cutting width it will be easy to manoeourve around flower beds and paths and when it comes to putting it away the handlebars fold down so it will take less room in the shed.
It costs £129, £50 less than the maker’s recommended retail price and has a two year manufacturer’s warranty.
If you want a little self-propelled mower for a smaller area the MD 41SP Self-Propelled Petrol Lawn Mower will fit the bill.
This has a single lever to adjust the cutting height from from 27 mm to 72 mm and a steel cutting deck to give the machine extra strength.
It has a 118 cc engine and a 40 litre grass box and has large wheels to cope with uneven ground mounted on proper ball bearing wheels which won’t stiffen as the machine gets older.
We deliver it free the next working day and it has a two year warranty from the manufacturer. Cost: £169.95, £80 less than the maker’s recommended retail price.
A slightly bigger machine is the MD 46SP Self-Propelled Petrol Lawn Mower, one suitable for small to medium sized lawns.
This has a cutting width of 46 cm – 18 in – and is aimed at lawns of around 30 metres by 30 metres.
The grass box can hold 60 litres and cutting heights are from 27 mm up to 72 mm. Power comes from a 135 cc engine and there is a throttle control so you can adjust the revs.
This one costs £199.95, a full £100 off the maker’s recommended retail price.
We deliver it free the next working day and there is a two year maker’s warranty.
And the top of the range in the series is the MD 51SP 3-in-1 Hi-Wheel Self-Propelled Petrol Lawn Mower.
This one lets you collect the clippings in the 65 litre grass box or drop them at the back or you can mulch them and return them to the lawn where they rot away to form a valuable fertilizer.
With its wider cutting width it is suitable for medium to large sized lawns and has cutting heights from 25 mm up to 90 mm, so it can cope with the the longer lawn edges with ease.
This one has a 163 cc engine and a large 1.3 litre petrol tank so you can mow for longer without re-fuelling.
It costs £269.95, £140 less than the maker’s recommended retail price. It has a two year warranty and we deliver it free the next working day.
