Sharon’s designs are a breath of fresh air

Top new gardening designer Sharon Hockenhull certainly grew from unusual roots.

From a career in publishing and writing, Sharon blossomed into her green career later in life, says the Bolton News.

The 39-year-old mother of two from Harwood, Greater Manchester, came in the top four at BBC Gardener’s World Live. Staged at the LG Arena in Birmingham, Sharon beat off competition to design a high class garden.

Although she had a passion for words, Sharon said her love of flowers goes back to childhood: "I loved growing plants and always had lots of pots with greenery and flowers."

In 2006, she started her own landscaping business and went onto win two silver medals at the RHS Tatton Show.

Sharon is definitely one to watch. Keep your eyes peeled for her gorgeous exhibits with their blasts of colour and creative flair.

It just goes to show that even new gardeners can make a big difference!
