A new report has revealed that Brits are willing to spend more on a property if it allows them a generous green space to work on with garden tools.
As a result of this trend, the average garden boasts an estimated £1,790 worth of investment, according to the findings of a new report from Homebase.
When this figure is stretched out to a national scale, it represents a total of £80 billion spent on flowers, lawns and additional features.
People looking to sell up in the near future will not want to be without a lawn mower, as a green strip was singled out as the outdoor consideration that has the most appeal to house hunters.
Roses, lavender and fuchsia were identified as the top three plants most likely to sell a property.
"You don't have to be in your 60s and a brilliant gardener to create something with real curb appeal," said garden designer Adam Frost.
