Ah. Another sunny smile on the happy face of another worthy winner. I love it. As you can see, our main picture today is the winning entry of our recent competition. I have been asked to pop a couple of lines down about our top three photos as the usual ‘photo comp blog’ guru (Drew) is not around on account of he’s probably recovering from his Bank Holiday cricket team ‘celebrations.’
Our recent ‘Photo Competition’ brought in some good pictures and some interesting concepts and, again, the standard of photos was, generally, very high, once we had excluded out the ‘re-posted’ pictures that were not original. Read the rules peeps innit?
Anyway, the winner of our stripy spring photo competition is June Grist for her composite photo starring a lawn in need of stripes and the dog Diesel dreaming of the perfect lawn. Well done June!
You gave us a glimpse of our stripy theme, plus lots of other elements, with the theme linked to the prize. Our judges thought it was inventive, creative and it made them laugh. Our pro photographer Mark liked it for its technical prowess as well as its fun and thematic breadth…
June we have made your picture our main image for today’s blog and we hope you get great use out of your new Hayter Spirit 41 Petrol Push Rear-Roller Lawnmower. Now Diesel doesn’t have to mourn anymore.
I should say the competition was very close and there was some serious wrangling over the eventual winner. We had a lot of favourites in the end but have decided to just show three on this occasion. Our first runner-up is Ali Barlow‘s sssssssssplendid portrait of a grass snake – where did you snap that Ali? Mark really liked this entry, he said it was ‘a beautiful photo and was probably hard to capture a grass snake out in the wild.’
Also worthy of mention is Chris Wilkinsons‘ super stripy lawn. Mark said ‘Nice picture and he has made the lawn look really smart. Nice parallel lines and he has managed to emphasise the stripes really well. nice use of perspective too. Well done Chris.’
So that is it for this competition. Thank you so much to everyone who entered and a big sloppy kiss and sorry to those who did not win. We’ll be having another competition very soon so keep your eyes on our facebook page for details.
