New Season – New Look.

“The Secret of Change Is to Focus All of Your Energy, Not on Fighting the Old, But on Building the New”. This appropriate adage has been attributed to Greek Philosopher, Socrates, although on closer inspection, it turns out to be from a novel written a couple of millennia later and the ‘Socrates’ in question was actually an American petrol pump attendant. So much for the wisdom of the ancients. However, it is a truism. If we concentrate on the past we don’t really change.

Subsequently, unlike my colleague Holly, I will avoid lampooning our old logo or discussing the past and simply say “welcome the new”. I might even go so far as to proffer a cautious but heartfelt – “WooHoo!” There. That’s better.

Not enough? Right then. In the absence of a glass of something effervescent to share, here are some fireworks that look a bit like flowers…

"Ooooohhh...Ahhhhhh...etc"

“Ooooohhh… Aaaaahhh…etc”

Happy? Good. I spoil you. Look. It’s not like we weren’t doing fine before. It’s not like we weren’t already the longest established powered garden machinery supplier on the internet, the country’s largest specialist supplier of petrol lawnmowers, selling more ride-on mowers than any other retailer… well you know the form. We are still all those things and more, and we were doing fine but we thought the old site was looking a little tired and that a lick of paint, a wipe around and a rethink was due. A refresh.

I am delighted with our new look. I think it is positive, clean, sharp and easy on the eye. It is also easy to use. I have had a good look around and it is very intuitive and simple to get from one part of the site to another. And that’s from someone whose idea of complex technology is an espresso machine.

So what else is new? Ah. MowHow. Yes. The advent of MowHow, a solid library of information and advice, is a real move forward. This handy resource is set to become very useful to customers and we bloggers alike. Let’s face it, we don’t know everything… well Dick might come close but Holly’s mind at times resembles an especially large sieve with extra holes punched in for good measure and I know a few things but I can tell you from personal experience, that MowHow page is a useful place to go. Try it out.

At MowDirect, we have always tried to provide up to the minute information and our product write-ups have always been the most detailed, the most researched and the most informative you could get on the net. Often copied, never bettered. However, that’s not enough for us. Part of the point of this refresh is that we want to do even more. We want to become THE  ‘Go To’ place for advice and guidance for gardening, especially when it involves powered equipment.

Of course, we want you to buy from us, but we are concentrating on ensuring that you get the best use from the equipment you buy and/or have. We are committed to this. this is why we seedn out instrucvtions with your purchases, tips to help you get started, advice for troubleshooting and why we created mowHow, as i mentioned before.

But even more than that, we want involvement from you. We want some interaction. If you spot an area we haven’t covered in MowHow – please tell us. If there is equipment you wish we were providing – please let us know. Also, if we help with an issue, we’d love you to tell your friends about us and spread the word. You might even use Facebook or Twitter – we’re on there – have a look.

So, the season approaches and we are ready to spring into action. New season – new look. I am looking forward to hearing from you all and finding out what you think of our ‘new look’, and in the meantime…

Enjoy your garden.  Drew Hardy
