BioScapes NatureArk® Multi-Habitat Planter
New from Yorkshire-based ecology and horticultural wizards BioScapes, the NatureArk® is their mid-range, mid-sized multi-habitat planter and is aimed at larger gardens, community areas and educational institutions.
The BioScapes NatureArk® Planter is quick and easy to install and provides an array of habitats that will encourage the essential proliferation of small mammals, amphibians, insects and invertebrates, all of which will come together and happily coexist, just like they would in nature.
Deadwood Habitat
The deadwood habitat is a damp, low-temperature environment, which will prove irresistible to spiders, lizards, grass-snakes, frogs and toads. It’s positioned in the centre of the unit, but nevertheless offers access to the ground and outside areas.
Wet & Dry Habitats
Designed with mammals and amphibians in mind, the wet and dry habitats are located at either end of the NatureArk® and are insulated from heat, cold and noise, thereby providing a comfortable, low-disturbance home all year round.
Core Reservoir
Positioned above the deadwood area, the core reservoir provides additional shelter and keeps the centre dry for species preferring a low-moisture environment. There’s also an additional wet habitat, which is designed to overflow into the wet habitat beneath, keeping it moist for species preferring this kind of environment.
Main Planting Area
The main planting area contains topsoil and/or other growing-media, which protects and insulates the deadwood habitat below. It’s recommend you plant indigenous species, as these will attract native pollinators.
In total, the NatureArk® offers:
