- Monster of a Ground Eater
Monster of a Ground Eater Considering that I wanted a rear-tine tiller which would have gone on back order, but got fantastic, professional advice from MowDirect and went for this bad boy.
Very little assembly work needed. I did get a little confused on 2 of the cables though. A quick Google search soon sorted that out. Took it down to my newly acquired allotment today, it has not been worked on for 2 or so years. I've already done the ground clearing and brush cut it all ready to be tilled.
Already owning a Mantis and a Handy Briggs and Stratton tiller, I was a little concerned at the size and weight of this beast, especially as the allotment is right by the local village football ground, (the headline 'Mad Gardener Ploughs up Football Pitch after Losing Control' sprung to mind) Still, I put this to one side and went for it. Choke on full, started first pull and a very soft pull it was too, choke off almost immediately and she was sat there purring. At this moment the football club arrives, damn, 22 odd players half my age probably just waiting to roll around laughing as I lose control. Here goes, pull throttle bar and the beast is off like a rocket. I did choose the hardest piece of ground to start on, throttle off, reposition and off she goes, half to three quarters of the way up the tines and absolutely destroying it, don't fight it and let it run, superb.
4 hours later, a 1/3 acre allotment bar a 3m square is tilled, for the first time in 2 years. Amazing piece of kit. Stopped about 4 times to untangled the tines of roots etc. very easy with the tine set up and very efficient on fuel to, filled the tank to the upper marker and still plenty of fuel left to finish off tomorrow. Very easy to control, did not have to use reverse gear and all round an amazing bit of kit, highly recommend.
