- Autumn Assist.
Autumn Assist. The leaf sweeper is a handy tool for leaves and pine needles but seems to be sporadic with picking up pine cones. You do need some effort to push it when set to clear cleanly off the lawn, otherwise you have to repeat the process a number of times.
The build quality is fine except for the collector bag which is not strong enough for the job as mine has started ripping on the second use, maybe a faulty bag but think it is not up to the job.
- Cleans up the Tennis Court in Minutes
Cleans up the Tennis Court in Minutes Very easy to clean up hard surface. Decent on grass. Tricky on gravel (takes some of the gravel with it).
Easy to assemble, but the bottom pole for the leaf catcher could be a bit more robust, as I lost the two pole ends on the first run and now it doesn't stay in its place so easily. Easy enough to fix, but could be better designed.
- Good machine.
Good machine. What would make this a better product is as follows: Metal bag hooks not plastic. The two rubber ends to keep the bar in place for the bag are prone to come off so I glued mine on asap. Height adjustment for brush showing the position would help when changing height from lawn to paths.
Dealing with the company is good as they replaced a faulty brush no problem.
- Cheap but even then poor value
Cheap but even then poor value About as shoddy as it gets. Poor design.
The handles play too much and feel as though they are about to fall off.
Most important basket retention relies on some plastic plugs which go on each end of a metal bar. These fall off and are lost within minutes.
- It Does a Good Job
It Does a Good Job The sweeper did not take long to assemble. The problem of the handle fit had been noted and tape was applied on fitting which did the trick. The rubber plugs on the lower bar were super-glued in place as well. The metal work is sturdy; this cannot be said for the collection bag which split at both bottom seams on the second time out; despite having reinforcing tape along the seam, the stitching came apart. A little practice adjusting the height soon produced the desired results under the trees just in time for the storms.
- Disappointing performance
Disappointing performance The sweeper is les effective than it ought to be and the gearing is quite stiff so pushing it is hard work.
Sweep height adjustment is primitive.
- Solidly built and very useful acquisition
Solidly built and very useful acquisition I am very pleased with this machine overall except that I bought it to mainly collect acorns. Although reasonably successful it does throw the acorns under the front shield so that you are permanently chasing them and you only gather about 80%. The sweeper is well built and sturdy except that there is some movement and play between the top and bottom handles. This is due to the tube on the bottom handle being too thin so that the gap between the two handles is too wide. These are secured by only one nut and bolt which hold the bag rod clip in place, if over-tightened to stop the movement the clip will split. Either the tube needs to be thicker or there needs to be two nuts and bolts on each side to pull the two together. I had to take them apart and thicken the thinner tube by adding some tape, this seems to have cured the problem.
- A good leaf sweeper.
A good leaf sweeper. The sweeper is larger than I expected and takes some getting used to handling at the best effective height above the surface being swept. The method of holding the lower edge of the bag is poor. I have already lost the rubber 'plugs' that are meant to hold the bar in place.
But it does the job and I have a lot of leaves to look forward to sweeping up.
- Good product
Good product The MD lawn sweeper is a good, strong, easy to assemble product and once the height has been set correctly its quite easy to use. However there is one thing that can be improved and that is where the handles join. The female joint is too large allowing a lot of "play"on the handle. The handles are bolted together but they can not be tightened down without splitting the bag retaining bracket ! Be warned.
The service received from Mowdirect is excellent and I can thoroughly recommend them .
