Bosch tools targeted by thieves

Bosch Police forces operating in Pinvin, near Evesham are appealing to gardeners to ensure that their tools are securely locked away following a spate of Bosch tool burglaries hitting the region.

Police spokesman PC Mike Stephenson told the Evesham Journal: "Although shed burglaries are normally associated with spring or summer, householders should ensure their gardens and outbuildings are as secure as possible all year round.

"With the longer hours of darkness providing thieves with extra cover during the winter, it's important to have adequate security lighting and to keep it maintained," he added.

Gardeners were also being warned to make sure that any garden gates were securely locked with padlocks in addition to bolts, as well as fixing a trellis to the top of all fences complete with prickly plants to put off would-be intruders.

Sheds also needed particular attention, according to PC Stephenson, who stated: "Shed doors are notoriously easy to break into, so strengthen the door and frame if you can.

"Outside door hinges should be fitted with coach bolts or non-return screws and if you are strengthening the door and frame consider replacing the hinges with the heavy-duty type."
