Gardening News, part of the Gardening Mags network, has reviewed the latest models of wheelbarrows in preparation for garden tidy-ups across the country.
A variety of styles and colours are on display this season as well and it appears that the manufacturers have taken the diverse needs of different types of gardeners on board with barrows being produced for every gardening job.
Smaller gardens would benefit from a barrow like the Camden Utility from Chillington. With a width of just 58cm it would fit into nearly any shed and its shorter frame makes it highly stable and easy to manoeuvre around the garden.
Another contender for a urban garden is the Britannia wheelbarrow from Parasene which is the same width but has solid rubber tyres and according to Garden News would be perfect for carting gardening waste from the border to the compost bin.
For less mobile gardeners, the two-wheeled Garden Twin from Haemmerlin proved itself to be ideal, since the extra wheel provided extra stability and the unusual U-shaped handle bar allowed for easier pushing.
Also available from Haemmerlin is the Garden Star, a light-weight barrow for a larger garden, capable of carrying heavier, domestic goods around as well as compost and gardening materials.
But the best value-for-money barrow on display, according to Gardening News, is the Chasseur All Green from Chillington. With a capacity of 90 litres and strong pneumatic tyres, the barrow proved itself to be strong and easy to manoeuvre and was considered a bargain at £29.99.
