Toro's 'greener' lawnmower launched

Toro has launched what it calls its "innovative, eco-friendly walk-behind lawnmower" that it claims cuts mowing time by a third and chops grass into particles, negating the need for collection.
The Multicycler lawnmower says that this lack of box means that time is saved by no longer needing to empty it, while the "hidden" grass particles decompose quickly in lawns to provide more nutrients and moisture.
However, it does come with a 60l grassbag for those who wish to collect their cuttings, switching activated through a simple lever, though Toro said that letting it fall helps cut down on landfill.
There are three Multicycler models to choose from and all come with a 48cm steel cutting deck - "ideal for small-to-medium-size gardens" - and 190cc Briggs & Stratton petrol engine. Prices start at £399 including VAT for the Multicycler 48 HP hand-push model; £429 for the 48 AD version; and £469 for the electric start-up 48 ES machine with Key-Lectric.
Kim Macfie, spokesman for Toro Consumer Products, said: "This really is a great new mower for everyone who wants a machine that is not only very simple to use and gives a great cut, but has all the added time-saving and environmental benefits of recycling your grass cuttings in the lawn.
"You could say our red is very green."
