Mulch distribution deal likely to benefit gardeners

Enthusiastic gardeners are likely to be able to put their green fingers to even better use this year, following the announcement that Burlington mulch is set to be available from Brett Specialised Aggregates.

The independent construction and building materials company will be stocking Burlington's blue/grey and Westmorland green slate mulch in two sizes.

It is set to be available for commercial purposes as well as to keen gardeners, with the product being stocked at specialised garden and landscaping suppliers.

Malcolm Hatch, joint managing director of the Cumbria-based firm Burlington, said that by using the "skills and expertise of the distribution network that Brett has in place nationwide", the mulch will become available to a wider range of users.

With Burlington lauding its mulch for its ability not to break down, the purchase of some by gardeners may be a savvy early summer decision.

It is believed that the slate mulch will stop weeds from growing and also benefit soil by allowing it to retain moisture, ensuring less work with a scrafier or lawnmower, reports the North-West Evening Mail.
