FM524 Fairway Mower scrapped in Toro's Hayter takeover
Mowdirect news > Toro

The news that struggling horticultural machinery firm Hayter was to receive a new parent company in the form of Toro was good news for the Hayter-faithful customers, but inevitably some of the popular mowers have been scrapped in the amalgamation.
Speaking to pitchcare.com, David Sturges, sales and marketing director of Hayter, said that the company's new owners had taken an extremely proactive stance in the opening weeks of their joining.
"Our previous owners saw Hayter purely as a money making exercise. Therefore, our hands were somewhat tied when it came to investing in new models and manufacturing equipment. With Toro this has all changed."
Part of those changes included the scrapping of the FM524 and from now on, all European business will be done through Toro's livery and are supplied through Toro distribution.
"We will continue to add more Toro manufactured products to the range that are specific to the local authority/contractor market place. These already include a ride-on Zero Turn Rotary and a 21 inch Pedestrian Rotary," added Mr Sturges.
In addition, Mr Sturges informed pitchcare.com that the Hayter-Toro partnership had made a new acquisition, having bought the Allen Hover Mower business from APEL Holdings.
"This is an exciting addition to the company as it fits extremely well with both our commercial and consumer businesses," he said.
