The Rally FYX850 Tiller/Garden Cultivator, for example, is ideal for maintaining healthy vegetable patches or allotments.
Powered by a 5hp Briggs & Stratton engine, this front tine model features forward and reverse gears as well as extremely robust 30cm tines for optimum results.
The petrol rotavator will make light work of tilling even the toughest clay-laden soils and is easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces thanks to its reverse gear function.
An adjustable tilling width allows for precise, controlled operation and allows users to cover large areas efficiently when set to 60.5cm.
Vegetable growers can get their hands on the Rally tiller/cultivator for less than £500 (including VAT at 17.5 per cent) at garden machinery superstore MowDirect.
As more Brits become aware of the cost and environmental benefits of growing their own food, demand for allotment space has soared in recent years.
Many counties across the country now have waiting lists of people wanting to cultivate crops, from herbs and salad leaves to seasonal veg.
