Alison Patel writes: Those who want a chainsaw for domestic use that works to a professional standard should look no further than the MTD GCS46/40C petrol chainsaw.

It is the most powerful chainsaw in its class but it is great value and comes with a low budget price for credit-conscious gardeners who want the tools but are not keen to pay over the odds for them.

With a powerful, 46.4 cc, two-stroke engine, the MTD petrol chainsaw offers enough torque and will get the job done quickly - even the tough ones.

Operators don’t need to worry about getting the engine started in cold weather as the MTD chainsaw comes with a primer and decompression valve.

Users will be able to work on jobs for a long period of time without the engine cutting out thanks to the generous sized 0.36 litre fuel tank.

The MTD is a versatile machine and it comes with a 40 centimetre guide bar and 3/8 inch chain pitch so it can be used to saw up logs for a fire as well as for limbing work.

In order to gain optimum performance from the machine, it comes with a lateral chain tensioner and has an automatic chain oiler so it is always working at its best.
