Alison Patel writes: Everyone is feeling the financial pinch as the credit crunch begins to take its toll not just on the housing and banking sectors, but the manufacturing industry as well.

The cost of goods such as steel is rising and with oil prices remaining at historically-high levels pressure is mounting on lawnmower manufacturers to increase prices.

In fact today (September 17th) the Confederation of British Industry warned that manufactures' confidence had slumped to a seven-year low in August.

But it is not all doom and gloom as MowDirect are running an end-of-season sale and some items are reduced by up to 50 per cent.

Obviously, the prices that are offered in the sale can't last for long, so gardeners are advised to take advantage of the discounts now.

Prices are reduced on a vast range of products from petrol lawnmowers to ride-on tractors.

Gardeners can also take advantage of bundle deals on lawn tractors.

The hedge trimmer sale can help gardeners tidy up at a snip of the price and there are also big discounts on brushcutters.
