Botanical gardens run gardening workshops for children
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Wednesday, July 30 2008 18:53:36 by Alison Patel
Alison Patel writes: The Birmingham Botanical Gardens has announced that it will be running workshops for children to give them some "creative fun" during the summer holidays.
Halesowennews.co.uk reported that the Nature Summer Week children's activities are due to begin on August 4th and will allow children to visit the Edgbaston gardens where they can join in activities including making a tree character.
Education officer Deborah Knott explained that the workshops are split into two categories but the workshop for eight year olds was already full. She therefore suggested that those who are interested in the eight to twelve year old workshops should "hurry to book [their] place."
In addition to making a tree character, children will also get the chance to make spiders which they can hang in a "Growing Schools Garden".
The Birmingham Botanical Gardens & Glasshouses were designed by J C Loudon - a leading garden planner - and were opened to the public in 1832.
