British gardens to be featured on Japanese TV
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Wednesday, July 30 2008 18:55:30 by Alison Patel
Alison Patel writes: Gardens featured in "Great gardens UK" are to be shown on Japanese TV, the Birmingham Post has reported.
Trentham Gardens, Biddulph Grange Garden in Staffordshire, and Dorothy Clive Garden in Shropshire will all feature in the programme that will be broadcast in the autumn.
The programme will be presented by Kay Yamada who is a Chelsea Flower Show award winner and has 24 retail stores in Japan selling gardening products.
Kay and Phil Challinor from UK Trade & Investment provided some of the funding for the programme.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr Challinor said: "I am delighted that Kay is showcasing three of the best West Midlands gardens to an audience of over two million people in Japan, raising the profile and prestige not only of the gardens involved, but the region as a whole."
Building on the relationship between English and Japanese gardeners, Kay Yamada has said she is organising a tour group to visit the West Midlands and the "famous" gardens.
