Thursday, July 17 2008 18:53:43 by Alison Patel
Alison Patel writes: Former Ground Force presenter Charlie Dimmock, has launched the fourth annual 'Barchester in Bloom' gardening competition.
Lending her celebrity credentials to the competition, Charlie hopes to encourage and promote the "imaginative planting of flowers" in Barchester's 170 care homes around the UK.
Talking about her involvement, the celebrity said: "Im delighted to be involved with the Barchester in Bloom competition again this year. Each year the entries get more imaginative and inspiring so it will be great to see what the homes come up with this time round."
She continued: "Outdoor space is so important for everyone and its great to see that Barchester are committed to providing stimulating gardens and gardening activities for their residents to enjoy."
Categories for 'Best Residents' and Children's Garden or Project' have been introduced for this year's competitions to encourage care homes to work together with local schools to produce a winning display.
Charlie Dimmock will be presenting the awards for the winning gardens in October.
