Pupils at a school in Stanhope have been given gardening tips from a master tutor in the form of a Chelsea award-winning designer.
Trevor Tooth was asked to give a presentation to the year-four Linden Grove School students on what makes a world class garden design.
The school is hoping to transform a piece of nearby wasteland into an environmental garden with the help of sponsors Denne Construction.
Describing the event, Mr Tooth said: "Sharing my thoughts with the pupils and listening to their ideas has been hugely rewarding. I can not wait to come back to see the finished garden."
Mr Tooth also gave advice on the importance of choosing the correct colours and shapes for a successful garden and suggested which plants would be sustainable and which plants would support wildlife.
Sarah Town, curriculum head at the school, added: "Having Trevor and Denne working with the students is just fantastic; - it gives them a real taste of what the future can offer."
