A Welsh woman that has endured a life-saving heart operation is using gardening as therapy to make herself feel "a million times better".
Her triple heart by-pass operation wasn't enough to stop Maureen Donaldson persuading her neighbours to enter the street catgeory of the Cardiff in Bloom competition.
Maureen who has previously won the individual Cardiff in Bloom competition also entered the super gardener contest where she will compete against the best gardeners in the city.
Talking about the therapeutic affects of gardening, Maureen said: "My heart and soul is gardening if anyone is feeling under the weather then I would advise them to do a spot of gardening because it always makes me feel a million times better."
Originally growing all her bedding plants such as busy lizzies, marigolds and salvias from seed in her own greenhouse, Maureen eventually started buying plug plants.
Entering the street category of the Cardiff in Bloom competition has, according to Maureen's neighbours, improved the look of the street. Neighbour Margaret Langmead said: "I like to put a bit of bedding out in the summer and its nice to see so many gardens in the street looking good."
