Sutton town centre garden to be revamped
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Wednesday, April 30 2008 11:24:54 by Tony Domingo
Tony Domingo writes: Ashfield District Council has pledged to revamp the Sutton Town Centre garden.
The floral outdoor space will be redeveloped next month and could include a range of improved features, including a seated area, if funding can be secured from the Building Better Communities Initiative, Chad.co.uk reports.
Councillor Christine Wakefield, a member of the Ashfield District Council, claimed that the new project would be vital to reinvigorating the area.
"It is important to put some pride back into the town centre and bring a new colour and appeal to Sutton," she told the publication.
"We want to beautify the town so that more people want to come shopping here or do business here.
"The garden area in the town centre has been looking rather drab and dull and it is now time we act. I became a councillor so that I could help improve Sutton and this is something I am very passionate about. I believe this is a step in that direction," Councillor Wakefield added.
Meanwhile, according to the Knaresborough Post, the revamped Himalayan Garden - which includes exotic plants and sculptures - re-opened last Saturday (April 26th).
