Residents to celebrate opening of new garden space
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Wednesday, April 09 2008 11:05:45 by Tony Domingo
Tony Domingo writes: Bishop Auckland's young residents are poised for the opening of a revamped garden at a local children's centre.
The Busy Base will re-open tomorrow (April 10th) with the inclusion of a number of new features including allotments for organic growth, a new boardwalk and willow-woven dome, the Northern Echo reports.
Coleen Pattison, community development co-ordinator for Willington and Coundon Children Centres, was keen to praise the local companies who lent their support to the scheme.
"We would like to take this opportunity to give a huge thank you to Groundwork and partner agencies who have contributed to this exciting development, and we look forward to continue working with them in the future," she said.
Meanwhile, further north, a Scottish secret garden has opened to the public. The St Andrews Square Garden in Edinburgh had previously been used by nearby residents and local business since it was created in 1770.
