Botanic garden to hold Mediterranean festival
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Friday, April 04 2008 17:12:14 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: The National Botanic Garden of Wales is poised to host its first Mediterranean festival towards the end of April.
The Great Glasshouse will display a range of plants and flowers from around the Mediterranean climate zones to the public on the 19th and 20th of April, the Swansea Evening Post reports.
Jess Gould, a senior horticulturalist with the garden, revealed that the new exhibition of exotic plants was part of a scheme to generate interest in the facility during the spring.
She told the publication: "We are holding these special days in April because most of our visitors tend to come, inevitably, in the summer, and so miss the peak of flowering in the Great Glasshouse, which is in the spring,"
The festival will also feature Mediterranean food and music, as well as plants from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and north Africa.
