Victoria garden regeneration awarded Lottery cash
Mowdirect news > Gardening News

Leigh Jackson writes: Restoration work at a public garden in Neath will be possible, thanks to a £1.4 million heritage lottery award.
The BBC reported that work at Victoria Gardens in the Welsh town can now start, after the money was confirmed.
Planned works on the garden include the restoration of the Grade II listed bandstand. What's more, the garden walls will have the cast iron railings and gates replaced.
Dan Clayton-Jones, chairman of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), confirmed to the BBC that the gardens had been given 1,392,000.
He added: "Victoria Gardens are known as the jewel in the crown of Neath town centre.
"We believe that HLF funding will bring even more charm to the park by further restoring some of its valuable heritage features.
"Attractive green spaces in urban areas can transform the atmosphere of town centres and are highly valued by many people for so many different reasons."
Local resident Anne Ravenscroft told the broadcaster that the park was very important to the local community.
She explained: "It's great that we're in line for this award to ensure the garden can be enjoyed by others in the future."
