Restored mill garden opening to the public

Emily Jenkins writes: A garden of Cheshire mill is being restored to its former glories and opened to the public.
The grounds of the Quarry Bank Mill in Wilmslow are being restored to their 18th century condition and have been re-opened to the public.
The garden was purchased by the National Trust two years ago and major work is being done on the site to return it to its original beauty as planned by the mill owner at the time Samuel Greg.
Alan Knapper, head gardener at the site, praised the hard work of everyone involved in the gruelling project.
"The garden restoration is part of a five-year project which has involved careful archaeological surveying, patience, and a lot of hard work," he said.
"None of this would have been possible without the help of over 60 volunteers including local children, staff from various companies and inmates from Styal prison.
"They have all played an integral part in bringing the spirit and design of the original garden back to life," Mr Knapper added.
The garden opened its doors again earlier today, with work on the five-year restoration still on-going.
