Accountants aid charity garden
Mowdirect news > Hedgetrimmers and Hedgecutters
Wednesday, February 27 2008 12:17:56 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: Accountants from Proctor & Gamble put away their calculators and computers and picked up their lawnmowers and hedgetrimmers to lend a helping hand to a local garden.
The team of 30 professionals were on hand at CARE, in Ponteland, to help produce a new garden for the charity, which offers services for people with learning disabilities. They also helped the organisation decorate its main hall, the News Post Leader reports.
Matthew Robinson, a member of the Proctor & Gamble team, revealed that the task was beneficial to both the charity and the company.
He told the publication: "CARE provides a valuable service for people in the area and we have had a fantastic day.
Mr Robinson added: "The double challenge has been a double success as well as improving the surroundings here, it's proved a great way for the team to get to know each other better."
Meanwhile, the Friends of Close Park, a Bury-based group, have helped raise more than £30,000 for a new sensory space at the Close Park gardens.
