Leigh Jackson writes: The Midland Co-operative Society has made a generous donation to a local group to help it to build a new sensory garden.
The society provided the Home-Start South Leicestershire, a family support group, with £1,000 from its Making a Difference Community Dividend Fund, the Harborough Mail reports.
John Day, treasurer of Home-Start, was keen to thank the society for its kind deed, he said: "This is a long-term project and we have had to secure funding from numerous sources."
He added: "Finally we have enough money to get the project started and we would like to thank Midlands Co-op for its kind donation. The work is expected to take around three months but it will definitely be worth it in the end."
Home-Start's outdoor space will also include a safe play area for children.
Meanwhile, the Friends of the Douglas Bader Community Garden are calling on the public to support their plans for a commemorative outdoor space.
According to Fife Today, the group hope to turn the existing Douglas Bader Garden into a tourist attraction. © Adfero Ltd
