Garden to receive youthful makeover
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Tuesday, February 19 2008 09:53:11 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: A Yorkshire community garden will received a total makeover from a group of young, aspiring horticulturalists.
The Lupset Community Garden in Wakefield will be renovated by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) as part of its Greenprints programme of environmental schemes for young people, the Wakefield Express reports.
Kathryn Barton, a project officer with the BTCV, revealed that the work would help to transform the local area as well as the garden itself.
"The work will make a huge difference, because it is practical as well as beautiful," she said.
"The garden is a great asset to the community and people of all ages get great benefit from it."
The redevelopment of the garden will include an array of edible and sweet-smelling flowers, a raised flower bed and a new footpath. The space already provides people with the chance to grow their organic fruit and vegetables.
