Garden centre offers tool trade for Africa
Mowdirect news > Cultivators and Tillers
Thursday, February 14 2008 13:45:35 by Steve Thompson
Steve Thompson writes: A Cheshire based garden centre is offering to exchange old tools for a discount on new ones, with the donated goods going to Africa.
Bridgemere Garden World will take used goods, such as clippers and cultiivators, in return for money-off vouchers, the Crewe Chronicle reports.
Gary Kemp, manager at the garden centre, revealed that the tools would be of great use to help farmers in Uganda.
He said: "The initiative applies only to what we deem as 'traditional tools' such as trowels, spades, hand and garden forks, hoes, good old-fashioned garden rakes, not lawn rakes, and not power tools, which are those powered by electricity or are petrol-driven.
"The old tools, which must still be in good order, will be donated to Feed the Children to be shipped out to Angola and Uganda," he added.
The appeal will run between February 16th and February 24th.
