Connah's Quay pupils help beautify local park

A primary school in north east Wales has planted trees in a local park to help make the outside space more beautiful.
Pupils from Bryn Deva Primary School in Connah's Quay put their green fingers to work and planted new hawthorn trees in Central Park on Saturday, February 2nd.
The money for the saplings was provided by the Awards for All Heritage Lottery Fund and next month there will also be the addition of three new seats, the Wrexham Evening Leader reports.
The work is being done to remedy the vandalism to which the park was subjected last summer, which saw the destruction of nine saplings
Bernie Attridge, councillor for Connah's Quay, said: "I welcome the new grant to further enhance the park. It is all about creating a nice place for all local residents to enjoy and it is a great place to walk in as long as it does not get vandalised.
"I am concerned after the incidents of vandalism in the summer, but since then we have installed CCTV at the park, which will hopefully help with security."
Ms Attridge added that visitors to the park should ensure that they report any new incidences of vandalism in a bid to protect the attractive area.
