Harrow Carr set for new gardens

Leigh Jackson writes: The Royal Horticultural Society may build a new eco-friendly learning garden at the Harlow Carr gardens.
The learning establishment, which could form an integral part of the Harrogate based site, will be aimed at both adults and children, the BBC reports.
It is hoped that the new facility could help draw more than 10,000 school children to the gardens every year.
As part of the development the centre will have a geothermal heating system and is set to be built from sustainable materials.
Meanwhile, pupils at a school in Aberdeen downed their pencils and paper and picked up lawnmowers and brushcutters in order to create an eco-garden for their school.
Rathen Primary School has replaced a disused piece of land into an organic space over the course of a year, with the help of staff and parents of the Scottish learning establishment.  © Adfero Ltd
