Corporate garden under threat
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Tuesday, December 04 2007 10:11:04 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: A mini ecological garden, which sits on top of an office block, is set to be destroyed due to a regeneration of the property.
The Scottish building is set for a major overhaul with more floors to be added but no plans to put the garden on the new roof of the property, The Scotsman reports.
The developers are set to be given the go-ahead in the next few days, condemning the outdoor space to extinction.
However, local residents have been angered by the loss of the garden and may launch a protest to halt the building process.
Meanwhile, the National Botanic Garden of Wales has asked for a further cash injection to help with mounting debts.
The garden was opened in 2000, costing £43 million and has been warned that it may face closure if it continues to run at a loss.
