Grove wins Garden of the Year 2007
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Monday, September 24 2007 10:06:53 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: An appropriately named Ipswich gardener, Sorrell Grove, has won the Times and Fetzer Back Garden of the Year Competition.
Ms Grove's outdoor space, which backs on to her cottage, took 12 years of hard-work to create and incorporates organic delights such as self-grown vegetables, immaculate hedges and sweet-scented floral blooms, reports the Times.
And explaining her award winning garden, Ms Grove told the publication: "The garden is now my therapy, my sanctuary.
She added: "Gardening for me is about making pictures, about a process.
"I suspect I treat plants better than my children. Plants dont answer back. You dont have to make up for their inadequacies in the same way."
Meanwhile in Yorkshire, children at an infant's school are being given the chance to learn about the natural world in a unique environment.
The school has designed an eco-friendly outdoor classroom, complete with a lush lawn and a range of thickets and shrubs that act as a shelter.
