Leigh Jackson writes: A new sensory garden, designed for disabled children, has finally opened in Kent after three years of hard work.
The Parents Consortium, a children's charity based in Hextable, were able to finish building the garden with the help of the National Lottery and local businesses.
The charity were handed an £87,000 Big Lottery Programme grant to help towards the cost of the £200,000 outdoor space. They also received funding from the Erith Group and Barclays Bank, newsshopper.co.uk reports.
Designed to stimulate children's senses, the garden includes buttons that can be pressed to hear transport sounds and a mural depicting London and Kent scenes.
Recently, a Bristol care worker ran a half marathon to help raise funds to build a sensory garden.
Jane Chisholm, completed the 13 mile run to gather funds for the Quarriers' Magic Garden Appeal.
The Bristol garden featured musical instruments, sweet smelling flowers and a gazebo.
