Welsh garden wins lottery accolade
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Monday, September 17 2007 10:49:39 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: The National Botanic Garden of Wales has won the award for the favourite lottery-funded environmental project.
The Welsh outdoor space beat off competition from more than 600 other projects to win the award, which was voted for by members of the public.
Commenting on the gong, which was presented live on BBC television, Kevin Lamb of the garden told the Swansea Evening Post: "We are absolutely thrilled to win this award and would really like to thank everyone who voted for us.
"Being on the BBC show and winning the £2,000 will have an amazing impact on everyone at the project."
He added: "This is a great way for us to thank all those who have been involved and helped us to make the most of our lottery funding.
"The funding has allowed us to develop and conserve these fantastic gardens which are enjoyed by the whole community."
It is a great resurrection for the garden, which almost had to close because of lack of interest back in 2004.
