Tenants produce stunning gardens
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Thursday, September 06 2007 10:46:29 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: East Devon District Council outdoor spaces were awash with colour after housing tenants set high standards in the gardening competition.
The annual contest is run by the Housing and Social Inclusion service at the council and is judged to the exacting standards of the Royal Horticultural Society, reports 24dash.com.
But undeterred, the entrants produced an array of beautiful, original designs with several receiving the prized Gold level status.
Commenting on the spaces, Bryony Watkins, council member and competition officer, said: We had a difficult job judging our garden competition this year as the standard of all the entries was so high.
"The competition was open to all council tenants and we had over 30 entries from all parts of the district from Broadclyst to Exmouth, and from Woodbury to Axminster."
Meanwhile, further north, the Dundee Flower and Food festival attracted its highest ever crowd - a record 26,000 people attended the event.
