Gardenware becoming increasingly valuable
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Thursday, September 06 2007 11:00:00 by Leigh Jackson
Leigh Jackson writes: With the rise in the popularity of outdoor living, gardenwares are becoming more valuable, outdoor specialists claim.
More and more people are using their garden as an extension of the home and it has become a valuable space for any homeowners who enjoy entertaining guests.
According to John Potter, the director of Saga, the advent of popular outdoor spaces and garden decoration brings with it a need to be more careful.
Mr Potter said: "The increase in the number of garden programmes shows the huge appetite for gardening that is developing in society today. People are now spending a lot more money on their garden."
He added: "With the increase in the number of people that spend significant amounts on barbecues, patio heaters and ornamental statues, the average value of garden contents is increasing which is also driving people to ensure they are fully protected by insurance should they need it."
According to recent research by the Target Group Index, more than one million people in the UK spend around £150 a year on plants.
