Flower and Food festival attracts record crowds

Monday, September 03 2007 16:59:11 by Leigh Jackson

Gardening News Leigh Jackson writes: The Dundee Flower and Food festival attracted its highest attendance ever as people flocked in their thousands from around the UK.

The festival, which lasts a total of three days, attracted 26,000 people smashing the old record by more than one thousand attendees, the Tayside and Fife Courier reports.

Members of the public were joined by celebrities from the food and gardening industry such as celebrity chef James Martin and Gardener's World's Carol Klein.

Delighted to be present at the event, Ms Klein told the publication: "I think the whole show is totally splendid - it really is the best flower show I have ever been to.

"I have been talking to lots of people and they are all so knowledgeable.

She added: "I walked about the show from the word go and have seen most of the displays, and they are very impressive; but the most important thing I have seen is the children's section, which is just wonderful."

"It is obvious they are dead keen on their gardens."
