Vintage lawnmowers to be auctioned

A fascinating collection of lawnmowers through the ages is to be auctioned this week.
The collection represented the lifetime's work of motors expert Terry Stockton, who died earlier this year. He picked up and restored lawnmowers from all around the Cheshire and Staffordshire areas over many years.
Mr Stockton's wife Esther told the Crewe and Nantwich Guardian that her husband "loved old stuff and was fascinated by how things worked.
"He would spend hours researching the history of the things he restored and when he finished with them, they were as good, or sometimes even better, than when they were made."
The lawnmowers' auctioneer, Robert Stones, added: "We don't usually sell lawnmowers and bicycles, but Terry's collection is far from usual.
"Each one has been meticulously restored and will give their new owners years of pleasure and reliable use."
The auction will be held in Nantwich later in the week.
