Time-lapse video at Kew premiered
Mowdirect news > Gardening News
Tuesday, August 07 2007 13:36:37 by Editor
A unique time-lapse video of a typical year at Kew Gardens is being developed.
The project, which was developed in conjunction with the BBC, sees a camera being hooked up on a high vantage point inside the Pagoda, to the south of the gardens.
While there have been a couple of hitches in production, including a power outage caused by snowfall, the finished film will be used by the corporation to illustrate stories about the changing seasons.
Project co-ordinator Craig Oliver, a former BBC editor, said that while "there was a great rush to get it sorted in time", the camera proved "a useful device".
The camera was hooked up in January, and will complete recording at the year's end.
The other major event upcoming at the UK's largest botanical garden is a new exhibition of one of Britain's most revered sculptors, Henry Moore.
Almost 30 large-scale works will be dotting the grounds from September 15th - the largest collection of Moores that have ever been brought together in one place.
