Taunton flower show a success

Monday, August 06 2007 11:59:13 by Editor

Gardening News The two-day flower show at Taunton, Somerset, proved a big draw for garden lovers last weekend.

To the relief of organisers, the weather was generally good for the show after a summer of heavy rain in the region.

The flower show incorporated a farmer's market and craft stalls along with the more traditional plant and flower exhibits.

Colin Mogford, visiting the show, told the Somerset County Gazette that "the arena shows were better than last year.

"There was also plenty of different food to try."

The success of the Taunton show provided some good news for West Country gardeners, following last week's announcement of the cancellation of the Bristol flower show, due to previous bad weather.

Bristol's show, which was to have been held in the city's Downs area on August 17th-19th, proved too "risky" for backers, wary of the potential financial fallout from a washed-out show.
