An exciting new trade event which will interest flower lovers across London has been announced today.
The Celebration of London Floristry will open the doors of the famous Covent Garden flower market to the public for an open day on October 17th.
Amazingly, 75 per cent in total of the UK's florists buy from the site, which offers the biggest range of flowers in the country.
According to organisers, the event will show off the high standard of flowers at the market, and will feature specially-commissioned pieces from London's leading floral designers.
Talking to Freshinfo, consultant for the event Liz Anderson said that the "ultimate aim" for the open day is "to increase footfall and the amount that people are spending at the market."
Organisers also pointed out that visitors will need to pre-register to attend the open day.
The flower market at Covent Garden moved to its current site in Nine Elms, Vauxhall, in the mid-1970s. The only such market in the UK, it hosts over 60 companies, importing plants and flowers from all over the world, each day.
