Dense, quick-growing Leylandii continue to cause disputes between Britain's gardeners.
The latest to hit the headlines comes from Great Yarmouth, where a local man has been issued an Asbo after a neighbour claimed that the tall bushes in the next-door garden were blocking the light.
The local council has warned Barry Trew that he could be fined £1,000 if the hedge is not cut.
His neighbour, Bill Cooke, who built a new property next to Mr Trew last year, also alleges that two of the trees have fallen on his land earlier this year, leaving him with a £2,000 repair bill.
Mr Trew told the Yarmouth Mercury: "How can someone build a house and move into it in the middle of last year and then tell me that I need to cut the trees down?
"In my mind, he should not have built the house where he built it and then tried to change the scenery."
Mr Cooke contends that the Leylandii "have been a problem from the time they grew above my hedge and they are a continuing problem because they are dangerous.
The Asbo, which demands that the bushes be cut to approximately 20 feet, will be appealed against by Mr Trew.
