Man “gobsmacked” at asbo for garden row

A London man has been given an interim Asbo after a long-running dispute with builders over his garden.
Patrick Anderson, of South London, who allegedly wielded a machete during one confrontation, was slapped with the order by the local Hyde Housing Association, which is converting the building next door into flats.
Mr Anderson denied the knife incident, but admitted that he had "lost his temper once or twice".
"I am gobsmacked by this", he said, adding that his "main argument is over the light in my garden.
"They're saying the development wouldn't take over my light - I'm saying it will. I'm not saying I don't want the building there, I'm just saying I want the same light. It's sad that I could end up with a criminal record because I'm complaining about the light in my garden."
The next court hearing for the case is on August 2nd.
Though not common, garden-related Asbos - usually related to disputes between neighbours - have been in the news recently. A couple in Blackburn were found to have breached a previous order by holding a karaoke party in their garden so loud that their next door neighbour could not hear her TV earlier this month.
