Jersey hedge-cutting inspections begin
Mowdirect news > Hedgetrimmers and Hedgecutters

The first round of hedge-cutting inspections has begun in Trinity, Jersey, with the aim of determining whether certain landowners are breaking the law by not trimming hedges and trees.
Parish officials are in the process of inspecting trees and hedges on the island, which by law, must be trimmed by landowners on a twice yearly basis.
In order for the two inspections to be sufficiently successful, it is estimated that some 716 miles-worth of hedges must be cut, putting an onus on farmers and landowners to own the right equipment such as hedge trimmers.
A fine of up to £50 can be levied by the Jersey Farmers' Union, the body undertaking the inspections, should hedges and trees overhang onto the road and cause an obstruction in the process.
In order for the inspection, known as the Visite du Branchage, to be a success, some landowners may find themselves needing to get out the hedge trimmer before the second visit of the inspectors.
