Tenants rounded on an area around their flats with gardening equipment in tow as they transformed an unkempt grassy site into an impressive communal garden.
A cash injection of £1,000 was given to the project on behalf of Wirral Partnership Homes' Community Grant Fund and other donations arrived from Wirral Borough Council's Open to All funding scheme, Trafford Hall and the Co-op so that the development could take place.
A range of equipment was purchased by the tenants in their bid to create the communal garden and spades, wheelbarrows and forks were prioritised along with trees, flowers, plants, compost and benches.
Brian Simpson, chief executive of Wirral Partnership Homes, spoke of his pleasure at seeing the end results of the project: "It is extremely encouraging to see all the hard work the group has put into regenerating the area surrounding the flats, it has helped to improve the appearance of the area and will provide a place for tenants and their families to enjoy."
Meanwhile, garden maintenance can be gained in the Wirral area from the local council for both elderly and disabled residents with the gardening equipment provided by the local authority.
