Honda ride-on mower declared top for value

Mountfield The Times recently awarded the Honda HF2417 HME the best ride-on mower for value, adding that it was a great performer for the majority of tasks and that it was both smooth and quiet.

Praised for being built in a "logical and intuitive" way, the HF2417 HME was declared to be an "excellent-value machine" which cut the Times' test lawn "extremely well and made a good fist of tough paddock grass".

Though it struggled with excessively long grass, the testers believed that the ability to empty the grass from the driver's seat was a real vote-winner and stated that at £2,625 the ride-on provided excellent value for money.

At the cheaper end of the price scale, the Mountfield 725M Compact Rider - typically found for around £1,000 - won plaudits for its internal 25in blade, with the five cutting heights providing "decent control".

Its tight turning circle also impressed the judges and it was declared that the 725M Compact Rider would be "better suited to owners of undemanding lawns who hanker for the convenience of a ride-on".
